Artist Statement
I believe digital art is limitless, and there are endless possibilities for what you can create. Having the ability to easily erase and change aspects of your artwork, unlike traditional media where changes are more permanent, is creatively rewarding. I enjoy creating art digitally because of the vast variety of options within the different programs. I finish each piece liking it more than the last, which motivates me to continue creating. I am always excited to learn new software, skills, and techniques, as well as the opportunity to bring unique characters to life using different types of media. My art is mostly based on my past and present experiences. Although a lot of my inspiration for characters and environmental concepts are heavily influenced by video games and other media, the initial inspiration for most of my pieces comes from my experiences growing up in the Kootenays. From living in the Kootenays I have fallen in love with its animals and the variety of its landscapes, which will often show through in my work. I have always created art to inspire and bring joy to others and I continue to do so with my current work. I enjoy making art surrounding subjects that my audience are passionate about, this often includes the places they call home and their pets. Recently, I have discovered my love for illustration and 3D art, my two most recent projects include a finely detailed horse sculpture and a short graphic novel. In the future, I would love to create personalized pet sculptures by commissions for others to cherish, as well as creating more illustrations for books and characters. At the moment, I am trying to explore different media, styles, and techniques. I aim for every piece of art I make to be very special and meaningful to me or to others.
